The University of Cambridge


The University of Cambridgeor simply "Cambridge" is a  university  of public research  in Cambridge, England. Cambridge, the 2nd oldest university in the world of English-speaking was founded in the year 1209 and the world's 4th oldest long lasting university.The University of Cambridge formed by the association of scholars leaving the University of Oxford after a  argument with townsfolk.The two "ancient universities" have many things in common  and are often jointly known as "Ox-bridge".

The University of Cambridge is  location at the center  of  the city of Cambridge, with the students  occupying  about  nearly 20% of a significant proportion of the town's population and steadily  misshape the age structure.Most of the older colleges are located nearby the river Cam and city center.The notable buildings in  the University of Cambridge  are King's College Chapel,the Crisps Building at St John's College  and James Stirling  designed building "history faculty". The brickwork of many  colleges is also notable.The brick walls of St John's College provide examples of English bond [43] and Queens' College contains "some of the earliest patterned brickwork in the country" .



The colleges are self-governing institutions having  their own property and endowments, founded as important  parts of the university.Most academics  and all students are connected to a college. Their importance lies in the undergraduate teaching,housing, social functions and welfare  they provide. All laboratories,faculties, research centers and departments are part  of the university, which handles awards degrees and  lectures, but undergraduates gets their supervisions—small-group teaching sessions, by only one student from the colleges. Each college have to appoint their own teaching staff and fellows, who are part of a university department. The colleges select which undergraduates to acknowledge to the university according  to their  university regulations.
